Spokane, WA -

From Bloomsday to elite high school runners to people just wanting to stay in shape, Spokane is a runner's city.  Now the rest of the nation is learning about our little secret.

Runner's World magazine is celebrating its 50th anniversary so its October issue features America's 50 Best Running Cities.

"Last year, there were 44.5 million participants, men and women from beginners to marathoners, and we're also seeing an upward trend of urban running," said David Willey, editor in chief of Runner's World.

The magazine ranks Spokane as 43rd best city in the nation for runners.

Seattle is rank second behind San Francisco.  Portland, Oregon is number six and Boise, Idaho is number 20.
