For most kids, it's the last weekend before school starts. But two Spokane girls aren't spending their final moments of summer at a park or in the pool. Instead, they're raising money for childhood cancer research.
"I'm helping kids with cancer," 8-year-old Samantha Fay said.
Samantha, along with her sister, Lauren, set up a lemonade stand in their neighborhood on Saturday. Together the Fay sisters are fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time.
Every dollar raised will go to the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a national non-profit raising money and awareness to fight childhood cancer.
"The way I look at it if I were those kids with cancer, I'd be sad if no one would help me," Samantha said.
Their mother, Mindy, says it's childhood memories like these, her girls will always remember.
"I'm so proud, they are great girls and always wanting to help other people," Mindy said.
