SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane Fire Department reported late Friday afternoon the fire which hit Geno's and spread to a nearby apartment building was arson.

Spokane Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer confirmed investigators had ruled the blaze arson and added a person of interest has been identified in the case.

Damages have been estimated at as much as $100,000 for the three-alarm fire, which damaged both Geno's restaurant as well as the nearby Sinto Apartments. The apartment fire forced SNAP, which runs the complex, to find alternate housing for the 16 residents displaced by the fire.

Schaeffer said details of the case remain confidential but more information would be released next week.

The department will seek an arson charge against the suspect if they are arrested.
