SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

They all gathered on the field of Central Valley High School to honor the 18-year-old who friends identified as Jansen Badinger.

According to students he was known as "Mr. Spirit" at school. Friends say he was an amazing person who would go to every sporting event he could to cheer on his classmates.

They also say he was a leader and would show up to school early to greet students as they walked to class.

"He was just an amazing person in every way you could think of, and I truly miss him, I wish I could have seen him one last time," said Austin Ola, a friend of Badinger's since sixth grade.

A number of teachers and administrators also attended the vigil.
