If you're looking for ways to help your neighbor this holiday season, a lot of local charities could use a hand.
Habitat for Humanity is working on several projects this winter to provide housing to those in need.
Phase one of the charity's "Hope Meadows" development is currently underway.
Ultimately, there will be seven phases building 114 homes for families in Deer Park.?
Habitat for Humanity is planning a dedication ceremony for the first phase on Friday, December 9th.
Unfortunately, there is still a lot of work to do before handing the keys over to a family in need. The organization is reaching out for volunteers over the next week to help get the job done before the Christmas.
Chief Operations Officer Eric Lyons says this is a chance to truly make a difference.
"That's just going to change their lives forever. The kids will have a stable environment to grow up in. Same for mom and dad; a successful, clean house for the whole entire family," said Lyons.
Habitat for Humanity Spokane operates 365 days a year. They have built more than 300 homes in our region and are always in need of volunteers.
