SPOKANE, Wash. -

The KXLY 4 Extreme Team is working for veterans Tuesday as Mark Peterson and the crew invaded the home of Jim Steiner to give the vet a hand.

The father of two deployed to Iraq in 2004 with the Army National Guard but since returning home it hasn't been easy. He struggled at work and lost his home. He's since found the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that helps injured vets and their families.

"I was staying home, I was becoming involved with just myself. I wasn't being involved with my family, the kids, any outside activities, I just wanted to bury myself," Steiner said.

Steiner is in a new, smaller home now and Tuesday the Extreme Team cleaned his house, including the air ducts and carpets, and gave him a large storage shed to give him some extra space.
