A family of seven is sifting through debris after their home caught fire Friday night. Spokane firefighters were called to the home off East Wabash around 11:50.
They say the fire was burning in the bushes and then spread to the roof and attic.
Raselle Morgan, is renting the duplex that caught fire.
"I want to cry," Morgan said. "Never in a thousand years I thought my life would be where it's at right now."
Morgan and four of her kids were in Coeur d'Alene celebrating the 4th of July when she got a call from her son.
"I get a call from my son who says my house is on fire," Morgan said.
She rushed back to find smoke billowing from the attic. She says her son and his girlfriend were the only ones home at the time of the fire.
"His girlfriend was sleeping, she woke up saying she smelt smoke and he told her no he didn't smell it," Morgan said. "The next thing you know the neighbors are banging on the door to get them out."
Investigators say the fire caused about $25,000 in damage. The family is being helped by the American Red Cross.
