WSU Cougar fans, fresh off the win over the USC Trojans last weekend, are now looking forward to their first home game in Pullman this weekend, where they're also going to find some big improvements at Martin Stadium.
"Just coming off the win from USC and then having all of Martin Stadium watching us it's going to be crazy," said red shirt freshman Keiwuan Miller.
Construction crews are racing to get ready for their return with one key piece -- the new scoreboard -- impressing even the players..
"We've been looking at it every day in practice it's huge," Miller said.
In fact the WSU Athletics Department said it's about three times bigger than the last scoreboard.
"It's the clearest board in the western United States," said said John Johnson, Senior Associate Director of Athletics. "Fifty feet by 75 ft. LED and it's like watching TV in your living room."
But that's not all that comes with the scoreboard. The PA system is being upgraded, and as anyone who has been to Martin Stadium knows the PA system needed improvement. Fans will also see the construction of the football operations building, a 90,000 square foot building to house locker rooms, weight rooms, a full service kitchen for student athletes and a WSU football museum.
"Every day our students will walk by they can go in, look at the history of Washington State, of all the great players going back to the turn of the century," Johnson said.
Construction on the football operations building should be done in May, but this Saturday all eyes will be on the scoreboard, which should be ready by this weekend.
