Disturbing details paint a terrifying picture of a murder south of Spokane this week. An 8-year old child was awakened to find the killer beating her father.

A search warrant filed in Spokane Superior Court says the little girl was sleeping in bed with her dad early Tuesday morning. She woke up to find a man beating her dad and says the man was armed with a sword and a knife. According to the search warrant, "the man told her to stay in bed because he was going to kill her dad."

The child called her grandmother, who called deputies to investigate.

When deputies arrived at the home on South Keeney Road, they found the man, who is not identified in court documents, dead in a pool of blood. The warrant says "there was a splitting mall near the body that had suspected blood stains on it."

Deputies found blood on the walls and floor throughout the home. They also found bags of marijuana near the body. The warrant says, "The residence reportedly smelled of harvested/growing marijuana. The victim's mother told deputies her son grows marijuana for local dispensaries.

Detectives reference a post on the victim's Facebook page, in which he references a disagreement with someone close to him. He says, in part, "There's gonna be some hard days ahead of us, but I want you all to know that I was victimized by someone close to me... Someone I treated like a brother and trusted. I love you all and hope you can understand my never-ending pain." He wrote the post August 25th.

In the warrant, detectives write that they have yet to identify the killer. The warrant asks a judge for permission to search for clues on the victim's cell phone.
