With more than a quarter million people flooding the streets of downtown Spokane this weekend, there are a few things Hoopfest players and spectators can do to keep everyone safe and happy.
Spokane police will be looking for suspicious activity, unattended bags and perhaps one of the biggest problems that comes up each year: animals (of all kinds) downtown.
“Dogs, boa constrictors, parrots or otherwise. Unless they're a service animal -- we definitely allow those down here -- but we have had issues in the past with particularly dogs and we want everybody to be safe tomorrow,” Spokane Police Officer Teresa Fuller said.
If you do bring an unapproved animal inside the Hoopfest venue you'll be asked to remove it. Failing to do so will result in a $153 infraction and if necessary, the police will impound that dog, boa constrictor or parrot.
