The Extreme Team is hard at work building the new baseball field for Bambino Buddy Ball league, getting ready for the big reveal of the new field Thursday night.
The day started out with Avista replacing seven light poles. Avista was one of the original sponsors of Andrew Rypien Field.
Special rubber stone was also spread on the concrete paths between the bases, which will make it much easier for wheelchairs and kids with special needs to get around the bases. If they do fall, that rubber stone will make their fall just a little bit less painful.
Don Emde from Sierra Stone came all the way from the home office in Canada to donate resources and manpower to the special diamond for Bambino Buddy Ball.
"It's pretty hard not to buy into this," Emde said. "Once I got here Mark, I just wasn't sure what was going on, but once I saw the coordination ... we're blessed. Pay it forward. That's where I'm at."
The field is finally starting to take its final shape and what was once a grassy field last Friday is on its way to become a buddy ball field.
"When you first showed me this, it was just grass, and look at it now. It's just unbelievable," Andrew Talley with Hometown Chevy said.
"We're going to see a real game played here. This is the only field of its kind in a three state area. That's pretty cool," he added.
The big reveal for the new Bambino Buddy Ball baseball field is scheduled for Thursday evening during KXLY 4 News at 6.
