POST FALLS, Idaho -

Avista reported Tuesday morning it has begun its annual fall drawdown of Lake Coeur d’Alene.

The lake will be drawn down by approximately a foot from full pool, which is 2,128 feet, by the end of September, and an additional half foot a month until it reaches its winter pool level.

The spill gates at the Post Falls Dam won’t be opened during the drawdown, but there will be an increase in water flow downstream along the Spokane River from the dam.

Avista is recommending that property owners and boaters take steps to secure docks and boats during the drawdown.
