SPOKANE, Wash. -

An ammonia leak at a local beverage company caused shelter in place warnings and a partial shut down of I-90 on Wednesday evening.

Fire District 10 responded to calls of an ammonia leak at Johanna Beverage Co. on the 5000 block of W. Thorpe Road around 7:30 p.m.

The Spokane Hazmat team, Fire District 3, Washington State Patrol, and the Spokane County Sheriff's Office were called in to assist.

Fire District 10 worked with the National Weather Service and determined the ammonia plume was threatening Interstate 90 from Hwy 195 to Geiger, and that area was shut down.

A reverse 911 call was sent out to people in the area of Johanna Beverage Co. to shelter in place.

Fire District 10 says this is the second ammonia leak at the company within the last week. This leak happened while the company was working on repairs after the previous equipment failure.

No one was injured during the incident, and all roads including I-90 were reopened by 10:30 p.m.
