The Greenhouse Community Center Food Bank serves about 200 people everyday in the Deer Park area. Now, the most vital tool they use to get the food to the people has gone missing.
Volunteers came in to help Thursday morning, and the food truck, a converted ambulance, wasn't there.
"We're like a family out here and someone had stolen our ambulance, which means so much to so many people," said food bank director Susan Peterson.
They use the ambulance to visit eight different stores around Spokane County to collect food, and bring it back to give to people in need. They're still able to do that, but have to use a van instead. With the ambulance, they could do it all in one trip. With the van it takes two.
Deputies are still searching for the missing vehicle, but the Deer Park Ambulance company says they'll donate an ambulance to the food bank.
"It is just, just what we all needed. We all needed that boost and it's a very happy day here around the greenhouse," said Peterson.
The new ambulance is expected on Monday.
