Shopping is one of 13-year-old Alanis's favorite past times, so she and KXLY4's Robyn Nance met up at Teen Closet where girls like Alanis can shop for free.
But there is more to Alanis then just her love for fashion. She loves playing sports, reading and dancing.
"I'm on drill team," she said. "May 11th is the Jr. Lilac Parade and we've been practicing really hard for it."
Alanis is nearly done with middle school, and a little nervous but excited for high school. She says a good group of friends will help her adjust.
"I'm just so weird, they bring out my inner self," she said.
But what she really needs is a family. As a teenager, kids need their parents more than they admit. Alanis is cared for by a foster family right now, but it's just temporary.
"I want someone to want to take care of me. It would feel like I won the lottery because it's a special thing when you're with your family."
Alanis says she would like her new family to be adventurous, loving and kind.
"All around good people," she said.
