SPOKANE, Wash. -

A woman crashed her car into two telephone poles on Spokane's South Hill, claiming she was fleeing a robber.

Spokane County deputies responded to the area of 31st Avenue and Glenrose Road just after 4:30 a.m. Friday. According to deputies at the scene, the woman crashed her car into the telephone poles and then stopped in someone's front yard.

Deputies said the woman told them she was robbed at gunpoint at 2nd Avenue and Crestline Street, and was speeding away from the robber. She claims the robber took her purse and then asked for her number so the two of them can go on a date sometime.

Deputies said they think the woman is lying and was not robbed.

She was arrested on suspicious of driving under the influence.

The intersection was closed for about an hour as deputies investigated the scene.

According to Avista no one's power was affected.
