A robbery on Spokane's South Hill quickly turned into a police chase that came to a swift end near Spokane International Airport Thursday night.
Spokane police said Melissa Tschanz, 37, walked into the Great Clips on Grand Blvd and 30th around 8:15 p.m., pulled out a can of mace and demanded cash.
Alert store employees wrote down Tschanz's license plate number on her car and relayed that information to police.
A short time later, officers pulled over Tschanz at 10th and Adams.
The chase finally came to an end when officers used their patrol cars to push Tschanz's vehicle into a guard rail. Officers arrested Tschanz for robbery and eluding an officer.
During the course of their investigation officers determined that Tschanz was also the suspect behind the robbery of Tully's Coffee on 29th near Southeast Blvd. Thursday morning. In that incident, the suspect showed a knife to the barista and stole money from the cash register.
Tschanz, who is from Hawaii, told officers she was on her way to the airport to return her rental car. She was supposed to head home Friday; instead she's being held in custody at the Spokane County Jail.
