A traffic stop turned into a standoff between deputies and the SWAT team and two men in a truck refusing to cooperate with law enforcement officers.
The men, identified as 58-year-old David Galland and 55-year-old Michael Hicks, were finally taken into custody just before 5 p.m. SWAT Team members had to physically pull the two men out of the truck to take them into custody.
The incident started as a traffic stop around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies tried to pull a truck over but the two men in the vehicle refused to cooperate and parked their truck in a driveway of a residence near the intersection of Kildea Road and Starr Road in Otis Orchards.
The people that live in the home where the truck is parked were evacuated.
Not knowing whether they were armed or not the sheriff's office brought in the SWAT team as a precaution.
There was further cause for concern because the license plates on the truck are connected to a group known not to respect the federal government or authority; the group only respects county authority.
