CLARKSTON, Wash. -

A teen student was escorted from the Educational Opportunity Center by Clarkston Police Tuesday after discovering he had an unloaded .22 caliber handgun and a switchblade.

According to a news release, the Clarkston School District and the police department worked in conjunction to intervene with the same student on a non-school related matter that occurred Monday evening. This information led officers to work with the district staff to locate the student at the EOC Tuesday afternoon.

While following district and police department procedures, police escorted the student from district property in order to search the student. During the search, police discovered the semi automatic handgun and knife.

No ammunition was found on the student and no threats were made to students or staff.

The teen, who has not been identified, was taken into custody and booked into juvenile detention on multiple charges.
