52;28 so one of the things that distinguishes this
car chase from other pursuits s that the male passenger
of the stolen vehicle, as he's going down the interstate,
is allegedly throwing things at the officers chasing
him including a big axe called a pulaski.
IT STARTED WHEN AN OFF-DUTY POST FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT
EMPLOYEE SPOTTED A STOLEN VAN OUTSIDE WAL-MART.
WHEN OFFICERS TRIED TO PULL IT OVER THE VAN SPED OUT
OF THE PARKING LOT AND ONTO INTERSTATE 90.
34;14 at one point the suspect broke out the back
window of the van, and was leaning halfway out that
window throwing a pulaski which is basically an ax,
a gas powered lawn trimmer, gas cans, other items
out at the pursuing vehicles 34;30
SOME OF THE PURSUING OFFICERS HAD TO STOP AND GET
THAT DEBRIS OFF THE INTERSTATE BEFORE THEY CAUSED
THE GAS CAN TUMBLED INTO TRAFFIC HERE IN LIBERTY LAKE.
OTHER OFFICERS CONTINUES ON AT SPEEDS UP TO 90 MILES
AN HOUR UNTIL AMBER VAZQUEZ LOST CONTROL OF THE VAN
HERE AT THE PINES EXIT.
DEPUTY MARK GREGORY/SPOKANE SHERIFF'S OFFICE 35;15
the general rule is when criminals do run they really
do not care about what problems they are going to
cause as they evade.
53;05 so what started out as a property crimes case
has resulted in mr.vazquez facing assault charges.
that is something likely to drive up the amount of
his bond and keep vazquez in jail that much longer.
