SPOKANE, Wash. -

A snow storm moved into Eastern Washington and North Idaho Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.

The storm brought about 4 inches to the Spokane-area as of 7 a.m. Thursday. Outlying areas in Spokane County got as much as 10 inches of snow. The snow made for a slick commute Thursday morning, especially in outlying areas, causing some schools to close for the day.

Winds in the Spokane-area were up to about 20 miles per hour.

Snoqualmie and Stevens passes dealt with ice and compact snow. The Washington Department of Transportation closed both passes shortly Thursday morning for avalanche control.
