Southwest to begin non-stop flights to Chicago
Southwest Airlines will begin non-stop flights to Midway International Airport in Chicago for the summer, Spokane International Airport officials announced Monday.
"We are very pleased that Southwest Airlines has responded to serve the strong travel demand between the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene Region and Chicago market. Not only is there strong demand for travel to Chicago, but also the 10 beyond destinations across the country that this flight connects to from Midway," Lawrence Krauter, Chief Executive Officer of Spokane International Airport, said in a written statement Monday.
The once-a-day flight, scheduled to depart Spokane at 12:45 p.m., is scheduled to begin June 2, 2013 and will conclude in September.
"We will need the region’s support of this route in order to convert it to year-round service," Krauter added.
In addition to the Chicago-Midway flight, Southwest also provides daily non-stop service from Spokane to Boise, Oakland, Las Vegas, Denver and Phoenix.
