Finch Elementary was locked down Thursday as Spokane Police and a Sheriff's K9 team combed the area near Audubon Park for one of three men suspected in a Spokane Valley burglary Wednesday night.
Burglars hit a home Wednesday evening in the 2600 block of North Park in Spokane Valley. Among the items taken were six guns.
Thursday morning deputies spotted two men who looked like they were car prowling and tried to make contact with them. One man was detained for questioning while a second man fled the scene.
It was determined during the questioning of the one suspect that he and the other man who fled may have been involved in the burglar in Spokane Valley and there may have been a third man involved. Deputies saw that person's car Thursday morning, tried to pull him over, but he sped away. There was a pursuit but he was eventually able to evade officers.
Neighbors said a man matching that third person's description, possibly armed with a weapon, in the Audubon Park area, so the search was focused in that neighborhood and Finch Elementary was locked down as a precaution.
The lockdown has been lifted.
