SPOKANE, Wash. -

An effort to get Spokane County Commissioner candidate John Roskelley kicked off the November ballot has failed.

The Chelan County auditor rejected a voter challenge today filed by the chairman of the Spokane County Republican Party.

The ruling means Roskelley's name will appear on the ballot against current Commissioner Todd Mielke.

Republicans argued Roskelley's voter registration is invalid and can't run for office because his home address is a vacant lot and state law requires an abode.

"When this challenge was filed 19 days ago that Mr. Roskelley did not reside on his bare property as of that date. He moved a motor home there five days ago," Todd Mielke said.

Roskelley says he's building a home on the property and moved the motor home on the site this weekend to comply with the law.
