SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Firefighters were sent to the Riverpark Square Mall Saturday afternoon due to a car fire in the multi-level parking garage.

The fire broke out just after 2:45 Saturday afternoon on the 7th floor. Smoke could be seen coming from the upper-level parking spaces.

Those who have their cars parked in the garage are being asked to leave their cars and come back for them when the garage reopens at 7 p.m.

No major damage was done to the parking structure.

"The main problem was the smoke that was generated because of the pancake nature of this building. We had a lot of smoke still inside, suspended, wasn't able to ventilate naturally on its own so we had to force that with our fans," Bruce Moline with the Spokane Fire Department said.

The cause is still under investigation.
