LIVINGSTON, Mont. -

A 61-year-old motorcyclist is dead after he was run over in an accident near Livingston.

Park County Coroner Al Jenkins identified the man Thursday as Danny Noland of Richland, Wash.

Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Pat McCarthy says Noland was driving his Harley-Davidson on U.S. Highway 89 Tuesday with his wife as a passenger.

McCarthy says Noland failed to notice the vehicle in front of him slowing down and the motorcycle struck it, throwing Noland and his wife.

Noland rolled into the other lane and was struck by a car driven by Park County Commissioner Jim Durgan.

The Livingston Enterprise reports that Noland died at the scene. His wife was treated and released from a hospital.

A Park County prosecutor says Durgan was not at fault and the collision was unavoidable.
