SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old baby. Police confirm they are investigating the case as a suspicious death.

The baby, which died Friday morning, was in the care of a sitter when she died.

A medical call was placed at 11:19 a.m. by someone inside the Perry District home, calling for help for a 4-month-old baby girl.

 The baby was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Members of the Major Crimes unit and Forensics teams are at the South Hill residence collecting evidence and trying to determine what happened.

They are also trying to locate the mother, who was not at home Friday morning and has not been located as of Friday evening.
