Police: Domestic dispute ends with girlfriend getting stabbed

CHATTAROY, Wash. -

A girlfriend and boyfriend were fighting in their Chattaroy home Monday morning, when the girlfriend was stabbed, deputies said.

The stabbing happened near North Deer Park Milan Road and Highway 2 around 6 a.m.

According to a Spokane County sheriff's deputy, both the man and woman were armed with knives and somehow the woman was stabbed in the hand.

Deputies said they aren't sure if it was an intentional stab or if the man was trying to grab the knife from his girlfriend.

The man is in police custody.

The woman was transported to a local hospital.
