Multi-Car Crash
Spokane -

A fresh layer of snow Thursday night turned one south hill road into a skating rink and sent nearly 20 vehicles crashing into one another.

The pile up happened just after 7:00 p.m. on Ben Garnett Way and Sumner Ave.

In just minutes the road went from skating rink to parking lot.

"I was pumping my brakes, I could see there was  car on the side of the road so I was trying to pump my brakes." Said Karen Rickel.

Pumping her brakes, didn't help.  Rickel, along with all the others crashed into one another, closing down the roadway.

"We just couldn't slow down, couldn't stop, couldn't get it under control. We went into this suburban over here and just sat there a little bit and watched the cars come down around us. Got hit a few times." Said Todd Herold.
