A man was riding an ATV in Pend Oreille County when he hit a cable that was on the road and crashed the vehicle.

According to Washington State Patrol, just after 9 p.m. Sunday, Jack Dalton, 38, of Newport, crashed on private property on the 1300 block of County Highway 1889. He died at the scene.

Washington State Patrol said alcohol was involved and Dalton was not wearing a helmet.
