NEWPORT, Wash. -

A Newport man has been arrested for the shooting death of a Pend Oreille County resident Monday.

At approximately 2 p.m. Monday deputies responded to a residence along State Route 211 about 7 miles south of Usk. A caller at the home told deputies that his son had shot another man.

When they arrived, deputies found Dana Morey, 57, of Newport dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Deputies developed information during their investigation that led them to arrest Charles Langford, 62, also of Newport.

The investigation revealed that the two men were friends and had been visiting Langford's father's home when an argument broke out and Morey was shot and killed.

After being treated for seizure-like symptoms at Newport Community Hospital Langford was booked into jail on a murder charge.
