A fast-moving brush fire prompted fire crews to evacuate multiple homes in a subdivision near the intersection of W. Brooks Rd. and N. Minnie St. early Tuesday afternoon.
The fire lines came fairly close to several residences. While no homes were burned by the fire, some yards and landscaping were burned.
The Washington State Patrol reported the grass fire was initially 200 feet by 50 feet in size near homes in the vicinity of the intersection of Minnie St. and Brooks Rd. It eventually grew to approximately five acres in size.
Approximately 15 to 20 homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
As of 4 p.m. fire crews had the fire knocked down but not fully contained.
