Suspect tried to climb in through doggy door
Police said a man was shot dead in North Spokane Wednesday night while attempting to break into a house.
Marshall J. Balduff, 28, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, the medical examiner reported Thursday.
According to police, the shooting happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday at a home located in the 6000 block of North Wall Street.
Police said the homeowners and Balduff knew each other. The homeowners said they had been threatened by Balduff for a while and they believed he was armed with a knife.
Police confirmed they recovered a knife from the scene.
Police detained about 10 people, who were inside the home at the time of the shooting, for questioning. Major Crimes detectives served a search warrant on the house and conducted a search of the scene. Police said everyone involved was cooperative with the investigation.
No arrests have been made and the investigation will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office when it is complete.
