Machete, bat-wielding robbers surprise homeowner
It's not everyday you wake up to find two men, armed with a baseball bat and a machete, robbing your home but that's exactly what one man said happened early Sunday morning at his house near Corbin Park.
Austen Kost said around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday he received an unusual wake up call.
"I heard some commotion down here, yelling and then some pushing and shoving," he said.
Kost said he came downstairs to find two men robbing his house, one had a baseball bat, the other a machete. He says the robbers were ordering his roommates around.
"They were pretty much like holding them hostage, they are like take out everything in your pockets and bam an unknown variable comes in and the situation changes," Kost said.
Kost said one of men was about to slug him with the bat but suddenly changed his mind and took off down the alley.
Kost wasn't hurt, but said his roommate sustained some injuries.
"They hit him with a baseball hat in the head and the hand, broke his hand, I believe he had a concussion," Kost said.
According to Kost, the robbers made off with a flat screen tv and cell phone but they left some belongings including the machete and a cell phone.
"It's like leaving your ID," he said. "It's not the smartest thing to do."
Kost said he does not know the robbers.
