AN UNUSUAL MYSTERY PLAYED OUT OVER THE WEEKEND IN

69-YEAR-OLD SANDRA HARRIS WAS ABDUCTED FROM HER KENNEWICK
HOME FRIDAY AND HELD FOR RANSOM.
LAW ENFORCEMENT NEGOTIATED WITH HARRIS' KIDNAPPER
AGREEING TO PAY 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN EXCHANGE FOR
POLICE SAY THE SUSPECT, THERESA WILTSE HAD USED HARRIS'
PHONE TO CALL HARRIS' HUSBAND.
DEMANDING MONEY IN EXCHANGE FOR HIS WIFE'S RETURN.
WITLSE SHOWED UP TO RECIEVE THE MONEY FRIDAYNIGHT.
AND WAS TAILED AND ARRESTED BY KENNWICK POLICE.
A POLICE REPORT SAYS THE FORMER PRISON GUARD CONFESSED
TO TAKING PART IN THE ABDUCTION.

Sadly, since that time, the victim of the kidnapping,
Sandra Harris, was found deceased.
JUST BEFORE NOON SUNDAY, A DRIVER SAW A BODY ON THE
SIDE OF COFFIN ROAD, ABOUT NINE MILES SOUTH OF KENNEWICK.
THE BODY WAS IDENTIFIED AS HARRIS.
PROSECUTORS SAY HARRIS APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN SHOT,
BUT AN AUTOPSY IS SCHEDULED FOR LATER THIS WEEK TO
DETERMINE WHEN AND HOW SHE DIED.
WILTSE LIVES IN THE SMALL TOWN OF CONNELL CON-ELL,
ABOUT 40 MILES AWAY FROM KENNEWICK.
NEIGHBORS IN CONNELL SAY THEY'RE SHOCKED BY THE ABDUCTION.

POLICE SAY THE WOMEN KNEW EACH OTHER, BUT HAVEN'T
DETAILED THEIR RELATIONSHIP.
WILTSE APPEARED IN BENTON COUNTY COURT THIS MORNING.
WHERE A JUDGE SET HER BAIL.
Bail will be set at $1 million.
WILTSE WAS BOOKED ON SUSPICION OF KIDNAPPING, BUT
PROSECUTORS HAVE UNTIL WEDNESAY TO CHARGE HER.
