A man suspected of trying to lure young girls into his car Thursday is back out of jail. A judge released Jose Galvan on his own recognizance Friday afternoon.
Police first stopped Galvan just after 7:30 Thursday morning. Several people had called police, saying a man in a black sedan was approaching girls near 1100 W. Dalton, demanding they get into his car. Police stopped Galvan but weren't able to confirm he was the suspect, so they let him go.
About an hour later, a 14-year old girl called 911 and said a man in a black car approached her several times near 3400 N. Crestline and asked her to get into the vehicle. She was able to give a license plate number and police stopped Galvan again. This time, the victim was able to confirm he was the right man and Galvan was arrested on luring charges.
At his first appearance this afternoon, prosecutors asked that Galvan be held on $20,000 bond. They cited a previous lewd conduct charge from 2001. But, because it has been so long since his last offense, a judge released Galvan without making him post bond. He's been ordered not to have contact with his alleged victims.
