Inmate clearing brush electrocuted in Stevens County

Airway Heights Corrections Center inmate electrocuted
SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Department of Natural Resources confirmed that an inmate clearing brush along Cemetery Road near Springdale was electrocuted Monday morning.

The inmate was identified by the Department of Corrections as Danny Bergeson, 22, who was being held at the Airway Heights Corrections Center at the time of his death.

Bergeson was with a 10-man work crew near Springdale Monday when he was electrocuted while cutting a tree near a power line.

CPR was performed on Bergeson, who was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m.

He was being held at Airway Heights in its minimum security unit on a Skagit County conviction for attempting to elude a police officer, He was scheduled to be released on January 28, 2013.
