Grain fire in Odessa destroys two buildings
Two buildings were destroyed in downtown Odessa Tuesday night by a large fire.
According to a Lincoln County deputy, the fire started around 8 p.m. at an Odessa Union Warehouse.
The deputy said the fire started in a decommissioned grain elevator, which is a tower containing a bucket elevator that scoops grain. The elevator was used as a backup.
The fire spread to a nearby flat house, which is where some grain was stored.
The deputy said because of the old age of the elevator, high wind and grain in the elevator, the fire burned quickly.
The fire was still smoldering Wednesday morning.
No cause has been determined yet.
