First Night Spokane celebrates 2013 downtown
As the clock struck midnight, thousands of people gathered in downtown Spokane to ring in the new year.
The celebration was part of First Night 2013, an annual family friendly event featuring ice carvers, ice skating and dancing flame throwers. In all, First Night offered more than two dozens events and attractions.
"I think First Night is great," Roger Thomas said.
"We make a point of coming down here every year," he added
As the temperature dipped into the 20's, people gathered around several bon-fires to warm up. Not only was First Night a chance to celebrate, it was also an opportunity to reflect on 2012.
"The world didn't end, that was nice, everyone was all scared so we made it," Steven Kunz said.
"It was a good year all around, had some great vacations and stuff it was just a good year," Thomas said.
