The hart road fire here in Lincoln county has burned
thousands of acres and today some residents returned
to their homes to see what was left.
While we were driving down the road one lady flagged
us down to show us something incredible that happened
at her home.
WHEN DEBRA FALT AND HER 10 CHILDREN WERE EVACUATED
YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IT WAS CHAOS.
We didn't even get what we could.
FALT HAD NO IDEA HOW CLOSE THE FLAMES WERE UNTIL A
FRIEND SENT HER THIS.
A PICTURE OF HER FAMILY'S HOME SURROUNDED BY TALL
WIND DRIVEN FLAMES.
It was pretty bad and it was really really windy.
SO WHEN SHE ARRIVED TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE TODAY.
SHE WAS SHOCKED TO FIND ONLY A SMALL PIECE OF HER
DECK HAD BEEN BURNED BY AN EMBER.
DEBRA FALT, RESIDENT
With all the wind it's just a miracle it didn't burn
our house down.
FALT AND HER CHILDREN ARE STILL SHAKEN TODAY BUT SHE'S
ALSO THANKFUL TO THE FIREFIGHTERS WHO PROTECTED HER
We're very lucky.
Now the home did receive some smoke damage so they
are not returning quite yet.
but they say they're lucky they even have a home to
