Walt and Karen Worthy, the owners of the Davenport Hotel, announced the construction of a new convention center hotel.
The multi-million dollar hotel will be just south of the INB Perfoming Arts Center. It will include a skywalk that will connect to the convention center across Spokane Falls Boulevard.
As of now, the hotel will have 700 guest rooms. There will also be about 70,000 square feet of meeting space, multiple ballrooms, restaurants, a spa and a salon. There will also be an indoor pool and fitness center.
The new hotel will have a major hotel brand affiliation, such as Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt, but which one hasn't been decided yet.
“The District’s Vision 20/20 Master Plan for Expansion of the Spokane Convention Center calls for a major convention headquarters hotel as the next step in developing the full potential of the Convention Center as an economic engine that benefits the entire region,” said District Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Twohig, in a press release.
“We hoped that such a facility would come to fruition and very much admire Walt and Karen’s vision. We are looking forward to working with them.”
