DNR Firefighters killed in single car collision

SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said two firefighters were killed in a single vehicle crash on Friday.

DNR said 20-year-old Matthew Trost from Canyon Country, California and 20-year-old Samuel Amaral-Gallaway of Yakima died in that crash. Trost has been a member of the Ahtanum 20 Hand Crew for two years while Amaral-Gallaway was on his third season with DNR. Both firefighters were part of the Southeast Region crews.
