Spokane sheriff's detectives busted a pair of thieves who didn't know their every move was being reported in real time to 911 dispatchers.

Early in the morning on July 23, the entry alarm sounded at South Regal Lumber. Instead of going to the store, the owners said they fired up their computer and watched a live video feed from a security camera as two unfamiliar men rummaged through their business.

"Not only are they notified of entry into their business, they also have video cameras so they can watch in real time and see exactly what's going on," said Deputy Craig Chamberlin of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

The owners could also see that one of the burglars was armed with a pistol and reported it to the dispatchers during the robbery. It was information that was very important for deputies en route to the business.

"We had the owners on the line with 911 telling us exactly what was going on. (There were) two male subjects inside the business. One of them was armed with a handung that you can clearly see in the surveillance video," said Chamberlin.

Unfortunately, both suspects fled on foot. However, thanks to the clear surveillance video, detectives from the investigative task force were able to recognize them as repeat offenders.

"Our forensics units did a fantastic job with the ability to make still photos. So our investigative task force detectives were able to identify these folkd within a day or two," said Chamberlin.

25-year-old Daniel Spivey, the man holding the handgun, was arrested Wednesday night. His alleged accomplice, Cory Arbuckle was arrested Tuesday.
