A 5-year-old girl died and a 7-year-old girl was critically injured in a rollover crash south of Big Sandy.
The Montana Highway Patrol says a sport utility vehicle drifted off U.S. Highway 87 at about 1:30 a.m. Monday. The 26-year-old female driver over-corrected back onto the road, causing the SUV to roll. Trooper Christopher Baker says the driver may have fallen asleep.
The Great Falls Tribune reports the driver, a 3-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl also were injured. All were taken to the hospital in Big Sandy and then to Great Falls.
The 5-year-old and the 7-year-old were flown to Great Falls, where the 5-year-old died. The 7-year-old was flown to a Seattle hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
No names have been released.
