ANOTHER WILDFIRE SENT
FIREFIGHTERS SCRAMBLING TONIGHT....CREWS
WERE ABLE TO KEEP IT TO ABOUT 20 ACRES JUST WEST OF
IT STARTED LATE THIS AFTERNOON NEAR THE INTERSECTION
OF WEST BRIDGE ROAD AND DIVISION.
KXLY'S ALLIE NORTON IS WORKING FOR YOU WITH WHAT HELPED
FIREFIGHTERS KEEP THE BRUSHFIRE FROM GETTING ANY BIGGER.
Firefighters tell me they were able to get most of
this fire knocked out thanks to aircraft dropping
both water and retardant and were able to keep the
fire to about 20 acres.
PLANES DID THEIR ROUNDS FOR SEVERAL HOURS AS CREWS
FOUGHT FROM THE GROUND.
SPOKANE COUNTY FIRE OFFICIALS THOUGHT THAT ONE HOME
WAS LOST IN THE FIRE.
BUT AFTER THE SMOKE SETTLED IT SHOWED IT WAS ACTUALLY
FIVE OUTHOUSES WERE ALSO FOUND BURNED AS WELL AS A
COUPLE CARS AND A HORSE TRAILER.
THE ONLY RESIDENTS WHO CAN'T RETURN TO THEIR HOMES
RIGHT NOW ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE FIRES ACTIVELY BURNING
IN THEIR YARDS.
CREWS WERE ABLE TO GET A LINE AROUND THE FIRE SO IT
SHOULDN'T SPREAD ANYMORE UNLESS WINDS PICK UP.
AROUND 100 FIREFIGHTERS CAME OUT TO FIGHT THE BLAZE.
WHILE MOST LEFT AT DARK.
A NIGHTCREW WILL STAY ON TO MONITOR FOR ACTIVITY.
FIRE OFFICIALS THINK THAT IT STARTED ALONG WEST BRIDGES
ROAD AT A POWER POLE.
It was witnessed that a powerline came down and the

INLAND POWER WAS ON SCENE THIS EVENING FIXING THAT
POWER LINE THAT'S SAID TO BE THE SOURCE.
SO THOSE WHO LOST POWER SHOULD BE BACK UP SOON.
Luckily there were no injuries reported.
