BUT FIRST...A FAST MOVING BRUSH FIRE BURNED DANGEROUSLY
CLOSE TO HOMES ON SPOKANE'S SOUTH HILL.
7-9 ACRES WERE BLACKENED ON THE BLUFF.
OFF HIGH DRIVE AND SKY VIEW .
ABOVE THE QUALCHAN GOLF COURSE THIS AFTERNOON.
KXLY4'S ALEX LEFRIEC WAS AT THE FIRE...HE JOINS US
NOW IN STUDIO.
I came home and I was talking with my wife and she
turned around looks out the window and says, smoke!
MARK ANDERSON LIVES JUST ABOVE THE BLUFF THAT WAS
COVERED IN SMOKE AND FLAMES EARLIER THIS EVENING.
So we got on the phone and that's the first time Ive
ever called 911 and it was busy so there must have
been plenty of people calling.
HE IMMEDIATELY TURNED ON THE SPRINKLERS WHILE FRIENDS
AND NEIGHBORS JOINED FIREFIGHTERS WITH HOSES, SPRAYING
EVERYTHING FROM THE YARD TO THE ROOF.
These guys were here on the spot.
You could hear sirens as soon as we got through and
hear sirens down on the highway.
I heard chainsaws going so they must be down there
doing something with the fireline.
THE PLANE DROPS 800 GALLONS ON EACH PASS WITH REMARKABLE
The air support has been working incredibly well for
We'll be here obviously all night.
We've done some voluntary evacuations of the homes
along high drive.
BY 7 P-M THIS EVENING, WILLIAMS' TEAM HAD THE FIRE
UNDER CONTROL AND NO HOMES WERE DAMAGED, BUT THAT
DOESN'T MEAN MARK ANDERSON WASN'T A BIT WORRIED.
There's a tree behind this clump right here and I
thought, oh no.
But what can you do?
