DOWNTOWN SPOKANE INTO A BASKETBALL WONDERLAND.
For most hoopfest is a weekend full of basketball
But for those responsible for setting up the world's
largest three on three basketball tournament, tonight
is messy business.
THE NUMBERS ARE STAGGERING: 7 THOUSAND TEAMS, 225
THOUSAND SPECTATORS AND 450 COURTS SPANNING 42 CITY
BUT THE MOST IMPRESSIVE NUMBER MIGHT BE THE 3 THOUSAND
VOLUNTEERS WHO BRING HOOPFEST TO LIFE.
I mean just look around you can see how many of us
are out here putting this together.
AMBER WILLIAMS AND LILAC CITY ROLLER GIRLS DID THEIR
PART, DISPERSING TRASH CANS ALL OVER DOWNTOWN.
SHE SAYS THEY'RE A SMALL PART OF A HURCULEAN TASK.
It's a great thing.
Spokane gets behind the tournament.
Is willing to help in any way they possibly can.
THE VOLUNTEERS COME FROM ALL OVER.
SOME, FROM PLACES YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT.
We've got a bunch of Geiger inmates who come and do
a terrific job.
BY SUNRISE, HOOPFEST WILL READY TO GO.
One thing we can't do because of the rain is tape.
THE TAPE CREW WILL START AT 5-AM AND BARRING ANY MORE
RAIN, WILL BE READY FOR TIPOFF.
