THE GREAT WEATHER WE'VE BEEN SEEING MEANS IT'S TIME
FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION.
MANY OF THE BIG PROJECTS ARE ALREADY UNDERWAY.
INCLUDING FRANCIS FROM NEVADA TO CRESTLINE.
AND STARTING NEXT MONTH.

KXLY 4'S CAITI CURREY IS WORKING FOR YOU TONGIHT WITH
MORE DETAILS ON THE BIG ROAD PROJECTS.
NADINE AS YOU CAN SEE BEHIND BE FRANCIS IS IN THE
MIDST OF A COMPLETE REHABILITATION
I SPOKE WITH SOME BUSINESS OWNERS AND NEIGHBORS WHO
SAY THEY STREETS NEEDED THE WORK...
BUT THE ARE NO DOUBT AN INCONVENIENCE.
FOR MANY COMMUTERS THE NICE WEATHER MEANS ROAD CLOSURES
Shaun Mazur :11
there's two seasons in Spokane.
It's winter and road construction.
SHAUN MAZUR IS AN EMPLOYEE AT SPIKES.
JUST ONE OF THE BUSINESSES CAUGHT RIGHT IN THE MIDST
OF ALL THE CONSTRUCTION.
THE REPAIRS ARE ONE OF THE LAST PROJECTS UNDER THE
2004 STREET BOND.
it's rehabilitating the length from crestline to division
THE SLOWER DAYS HAVE CAUSED SPIKES TO MAKE SOME CHANGES
TO HOW THEY OPERATE.
LESS HOURS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THEIR EMPLOYEE'S AND...
On Monday's and Tuesday's we've started opening later
in the day because we weren't doing enough business
in those days to justify being open.
THE OWNER OF SPIKES SAYS THE CITY HAS BENT OVER BACKWORDS
TO MAKE THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS AS EASY AS POSSIBLE.
AND THERE IS NO DOUBT THE STREETS NEEDED THE WORK.
BUT STILL MAZUR SAYS
It's hard when you have people who want to come in
and it's out of your control when they avoid you all
THE PROJECT SHOULD BE DONE JUST IN TIME FOR FOOTBALL
that project has a little more time, should be done
about the end of July.
THE HIGH DRIVE REPAIRS WILL BE A LONG TERM PROJECT.
it will go this season and next season so 20-14 to
FIRST HALF OF REHABILITATION IS EXPECTED TO START
NEIGHBORS AGREE THE ROADS NEED TO BE REPAIRED.
they are really really bumpy and you can actually
here it when you're driving.
ELIZABETH ROBERG SAYS THE CONSTRUCTION WILL INTERUPT
AND THE FOOT TRAFFIC.
There is a 3 mile loop that I know a lot fo people
do and I think that that would be pretty frustrating.
FOR THE NEW ROADS, IT WILL BE WORTH IT IN THE END.
there's nothing we can do about it anyway.
Pick a different route people!
