We could sit out on our porch and hear the car crashes
the fights, the sirens, the gun shots every night.
LIN HUNT WANTED A BETTER LIFE FOR HER DAUGHTER AND
SHE WAS SCARED FOR HER FAMILIES SAFETY.
AND WAS TIRED OF PAYING THROUGH THE ROOF IN RENT.
BUT SHE NEVER THOUGHT HER DAUGHTER AND HER WOULD BECOME
When they called us it was just like.
it was a reliefe.
THE FAMILY WAS APPROVED FOR THEIR HOME NEARLY THREE
EACH HOUSEHOLD IS REQUIRED TO DO 500 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER
OR SWEAT EQUITY.
FOR THE ORGANIZATION BEFORE THEY ARE ABLE TO MOVE
They think that people are going to move in here free
they don't move in here free, you have certain criteria
you have to meet.
THE FAMILY IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE TO PAY 30% OF THEIR
INCOME IN HOUSE PAYMENTS AS WELL AS OTHER BILLS.
THEY HAVE FINISHED THEIR REQUIRED SWEAT EQUITY HOURS
AND NOW ARE DEPENDING ON ONE KEY ASPECT WITH HOPES
TO MOVE INTO THEIR HOME IN THE SUMMER.
We would not have a house if we did not have volunteers
everyone asks us when do you expect your home to be
we do not know that will depend totally on the volunteers.
I would love if more people came here and worked,
it's a good feeling
HIM KNH IS A STUDENT AT GANZAGA.
HE VOLUNTEERS FOR THE ORGANIZATION ON AN ON GOING
BASIS WITH SEVERAL OF HIS FRIENDS.
It feels good, you see the homeowners and you do something
for the community and the poeple here and giving back
is something everyone likes doing.
AND THE HOMEOWNERS APPRECIATE THE GENROSITY AND THE
OPPORTUNITIES IT GIVES THEIR FAMILIES.
It will just be a new life for us.
A totally completely new life
