A SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE IN COEUR
D'ALENE HELD ONLY CANDY AND PAPERS.
BUT POLICE MADE AN ARREST ANYWAY!
THAT SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE IN COEUR D'ALENE PROMPS
POLICE TO CALL IN THE SPOKANE BOMB SQUAD.
IT WAS A MANILLA ENVELOPE FOUND ON THE
FRONT WINDOW OF U-S SENATOR JAMES RISCH'S OFFICE.
IN THE HARBOR PLAZA SHOPPING CENTER
OFF HUBBARD AVE AND NORTHWEST BLVD.
KXLY 4'S AARON LUNA WORKING FOR YOU TO
PROVIDE DETAILS ON WHAT WAS INSIDE THE PACKAGE.
While today's suspicious package appeared to have some left over Halloween
candy in it, situations like this are taken very serious by
the Coeur d'Alene Police Department and the employees here at the Senator's Office.
POLICE CLEARED NEIGHBORING OFFICES AND STORES NEXT TO
SENATOR JIM RISCH'S OFFICE AROUND THIS MORNING
WHILE THE SPOKANE BOMB SQUAD INVESTIGATED THE SUSPICOUS ENVELOPE.
EMPLOYEES AT THE OFFICE SAY THEY THOUGHT THE ENVELOPE WAS
SUSPICIOUS BECAUSE IT HAD POSTAGE THAT WASN'T STAMPED, IT WAS
BULKY AND ADDRESSED TO CONGRESSMAN LABRADOR WHO HAS OFFICES NEARBY..
If there is something that is so urgent that
it couldn't wait they will usually deliver it themselves,
COEUR D'ALENE POLICE SAY THE 40-YEAR-OLD MAN
WHO DELIVERED THE ENVELOPE IS NOW IN
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY BECAUSE OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES.
ASIDE FROM THE CANDY SUCKERS, HE DELIVERED
A RAMBLING MESSAGE TO SEVERAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS
WHERE HE COMPLAINED ABOUT A PARKING TICKET.
IN AN UNRELATED INCIDENT HE IS
ALSO ACCUSED OF STALKING A LIBRARY EMPLOYEE.
And once again police say the envelope was completely harmless,
however it was important to err on the side of caution.
